It9s clear that recent advances in AI have ruptured the social contract that underpinned
machine use of web data in the past.
There are a multitude of different reasons for this. First, unlike traditional web search, large AI
models and the products that are enabled by them do not provide websites with the same
beneûts of discovery and trafûc in return for allowing their content to be crawled.
